Oats are are the easiest-to-digest grain for horses. The starch contained in the oats has high levels of digestive mucilage, high amounts of unsaturated fatty acids and the essential amino acids lysine and methionine.
The rolled oats contain a high proportion of husks that are easy to eat. However, oats have a very low calcium/phosphorus ratio.
The heat treatment during the rolling process activates fat-splitting enzymes in the oats. The hydrothermally treated rolled oats do not contain fungus and do not lose their natural fats. Due to the improved durability, the Eggersmann rolled oats contain a small amount of molasses.
